The Evolution of Micromechanical Properties for Zr-Based Metallic Glass Induced by Laser Shock Peening

نویسندگان

چکیده

The micromechanical properties of Zr-based metallic glass (MG) induced by laser shock peening (LSP) were studied through the use nanoindentation. serrations in representative load-displacement ( P-h ) curves exhibited a transformation from stairstep-like to ripple-shaped untreated zone region, which implied an increase plastic deformation ability material after LSP. Significant hardening was also observed impact zone, can be attributed effect compressive residual stress. Both hardness and region indicate excellent LSP on investigated MG, provide new way study mechanism glasses further understanding plasticization.

Laser Shock Peening on Zr-based Bulk Metallic Glass and Its Effect on Plasticity: Experiment and Modeling

The Zr-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) are a new family of attractive materials with good glass-forming ability and excellent mechanical properties, such as high strength and good wear resistance, which make them candidates for structural and biomedical materials. Although the mechanical behavior of BMGs has been widely investigated, their deformation mechanisms are still poorly understood. ...

The Microstructural Evolution and Mechanical Properties of Zr-Based Metallic Glass under Different Strain Rate Compressions

In this study, the high strain rate deformation behavior and the microstructure evolution of Zr-Cu-Al-Ni metallic glasses under various strain rates were investigated. The influence of strain and strain rate on the mechanical properties and fracture behavior, as well as microstructural properties was also investigated. Before mechanical testing, the structure and thermal stability of the Zr-Cu-...

Characterization of Plastic Deformation Induced by Microscale Laser Shock Peening

Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) is used to investigate crystal lattice rotation caused by plastic deformation during high-strain rate laser shock peening in single crystal aluminum and copper sample on ~11̄0! and (001) surfaces. New experimental methodologies are employed which enable measurement of the in-plane lattice rotation under approximate plane-strain conditions. Crystal lattice ...

Anomalous shear band characteristics and extra-deep shock-affected zone in Zr-based bulk metallic glass treated with nanosecond laser peening

The effects of nanosecond laser peening on Zr41Ti14Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5 metallic glass were investigated in this study. The peening treatment produced an extra-deep shock-affected zone compared to crystal metal. As opposed to the conventional shear bands, numerous arc shear bands appeared and aggregated in the vertical direction of the laser beam, forming basic units for accommodating plastic defor...
